About the Author

Jonah Baird

Independent author of speculative fiction about mercy, faith, and the people we become when we're finally told the truth.

Jonah writes speculative fiction that crosses religious horror, dark fantasy, and apocalyptic literary fiction — stories that keep coming back to mercy, human dignity, found family, and what people do when they're confronted with a truth they'd rather avoid.

Alongside his novels, he writes nonfiction on disability, generative AI and creative accessibility, and what it's like to build a body of creative work — books, fan fiction, technical projects — outside traditional institutions.

What He Writes

Recurring themes

Peace with a hidden cost. Ambition that wears the face of beauty. Deceptions that never announce themselves. Across Soulless, A Foreigner in the Place Unburned, and The Judgement Archives, Jonah's fiction returns again and again to the same question in different forms: what do people do when they're finally offered the truth?

Clean Lantern Books

The imprint

Clean Lantern Books is Jonah's own imprint — the home for his original novels. It's not a publishing house with a roster of authors; it's one writer's body of work, gathered under one name.
